On route to the market this morning,
a stop into Envision brings out my secret inner superhero,
Super Data Girl...

A rushed market visit at 5 pm,
followed by a 2.5 hour drive
...in the style of my hero
...with smiles, laughs, and having fun

The evening opens a new adventure...

A moratorium on bad news declared today.
Good news from here on out...

...Breathing in the sunlight
and listening to Bing...

"You've got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between

You've got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith or pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene"

Autumn weekend perfection...
Following a restful morning,
Hand in hand we stroll through Philosopher's Walk,
and continue on to afternoon jazz at the Pilot...

Leaving our Otto
to be washed and cleaned,
we encounter a red hot auto.

First in Canada, we are told.

It is through Cosmic Carla that I am inspired by The Art of Simple Food by Alice Waters.
Sweet corn and peppers from the farmer's market make a lovely soup and salad for dinner.

Watching traffic go by on Spadina,
Trying to get the perfect "stop motion" shot...
Not quite there,
getting closer... :)

Just a few steps away from the bustle of Chinatown,
sunflowers stand proud.

The changing season brings a crisp sunny Sunday.
A wonderfully delicious dinner with my Hayes family - prepared with tomatoes and peppers fresh from the garden.

Brunch at our new favorite spot...Bellevue Diner.
Not too many places you can grab a latte and play a graffitti-ed piano.

Clouds cover the sky
Rain falls steadily throughout the day.
...remembering raindrops on dahlias

So good to be home...

Today, we said our good byes to Kenny.
He will always be loved and remain within us.

Notes of love, condolence and comfort
helped all to get through a most difficult week.

A good friend wrote:
"...a part of your beautiful, life embracing passion, curiosity, discipline and love came from gifts he gave you"

Thank you, Kenny.

Arriving at Butchart Gardens, it is an overcast and rainy morning.
Raindrops add a magical sparkle to the beauty of the flowers...

These are unusual days.
Each day bringing new understandings and perspectives.

Awake to a gray sky
and a day of constant rain,
we are in need of a change of scenery...

Venturing out...
A tour of Stanley Park by auto and a lovely lunch by the water.

Family gathers in the evening in honour of Kenny
at the Top of Vancouver...
A special place we are treated to by my "big brother".

Throughout the day,
Past experiences, memories and stories are shared.

Each sharing contributes to the healing for all.

256

256

The ninth anniversary of 9-11...
And the date of a service celebrating the life of Kenny.

Many arrive to remember Ken...
Expressions of condolences, grief, sadness
and the sharing of memories
give comfort to the immediate family.

Even with schmutz on his face,
Grandson Justin brings healing to all.

A few more steps today towards finalizing arrangements.

254

254

Relatives arrive from Korea,
pick ups at the airport, and funeral service arrangements
make for a busy and tiring day.

Being present when Justin woke up this morning
cheerful, smiling and loving...
A wonderfully joyful moment in the day.

I am embraced and comforted by the love of friends.
Kind words, warm thoughts and love felt
help to get through the day.

Confusing thoughts and emotions
bring on many moments of tears and sadness.

The arrival of family members with 14 month old Justin
brings smiles and laughter back into the home.

We miss you "Hahl Bee" Kenny.
You are a part of us...
and will always be.

It is challenging to photograph or write today.
A day that started normally
changed dramatically by noon.

Kenny (Choong Kang) Song, my father, passed away today.

Can't believe that Uncle Stu has not yet seen Wellington...
other than via google street view.

A visit to Wellington
and a lovely dinner at a neighbouring restaurant
reveal a new and magnificent view
of the tower and city I love.

The slightest feeling of autumn in the air
Soon the summer ends and it is back to school

The family gathering for dinner
celebrates the students returning to school,
and my mate's upcoming birthday.

A fun and jolly time shared together.
To a great “school” year for us all.

A blustery windy day,
the sun peaks out occasionally,
Gray clouds, white clouds, rain...

An afternoon set of jazz with my mate at the Pilot...
Perfect.

Busy bees buzzing about before the end of summer.

A lovely day watching a new drama series and preparing for an evening with friends.
My mate makes an incredible meal for 11.
Catching up over over many bottles of wine, there is much laughter and fun conversation.
Thank you to our friends for such a fun evening! xxoo

A red onion has been neglected.
In its dark corner, it sprouted and spotted.
Couldn't resist have a look through the lens
before putting in the green bin.
