488 - La Música

An early start this morning,
walking at sunrise in the Havana neighbourhoods.
An incredible place, unlike any other I have every experienced.

In the afternoon, we go to a Cuban Social club for lunch
and are surprised with a visit to a practicing band,
a few of the 35,000 talented musicians in Havana.

Buzzing from the excitement of the music session,
we carry onto an amazing outdoor show of dance and music.

A brief break at the hotel,
a pizza and beer at Cafe Paris and live music...

Loving the music everywhere!

Grateful today for all the music that we experienced,
the conversations and merriment that is shared in the group,
and for the refreshing mojitos and Crystal cerveza.

487 - Ola Havana!

A new adventure begins in Havana, Cuba.
The next 10 days will be Capturing Cuba.

Grateful today for an uneventful and easy flight to Havana,
the vibrant people, sounds and life of the city,
and for the opportunity to be participating in the Capturing Cuba workshop.

486 - Stormy Weather

Wildly stormy early this morning...
the day is gray, and wet.

One more sleep until I leave for a photography workshop in Cuba.
The date has snuck up on me.
Sad to not be travelling with my mate, and missing NOLA's Jazz + Heritage Festival...
Not sure what to expect from my photographic trip to Cuba....

Grateful today for
the progress happening on Wellington,
the eve of a new adventure,
and the buds, ready to spring open.

485 - Recrowned

Off to the dentist to get recrowned today.
Amazed at how quickly and painlessly it is done.

A decision to take the streetcar,
gets me out of the torrential downpour,
which is over by the time I get to my stop.
A delightfully perfect coincidence!

Grateful today for
not getting caught in the rain,
the clearing of skies for the sunset,
and for an easy dental appointment.

484 - Great Food

No shortage of great food at Huron.
Pulled pork with potato salad and coleslaw...
Sad to not be going to NOLA for the Jazz + Heritage Festival,
could be what brought on the pulled pork...

Grateful today for
everything I'm learning in the kitchen from B,
barks and joys of many chefs in the kitchen,
and for a great first pulled pork meal.

483 - Easter Monday

Reunions...
Maylee is back from her travels in Turkey,
my mom has returned to Toronto after adventures in Vancouver, Cambodia and South Korea...

A family Easter dinner for 10 prepared by Chef C.B.S.
It is an incredible feast,
enjoyed by all.

Grateful today for
joyful family gatherings,
all the reunions today,
and for family.

482 - Happy Easter + Khalsa Day

Morning workout,
followed by a fantastic breakfast of Eggs Benny made by B....

Out for an afternoon bike ride,
we run into the Khalsa Day Parade ending destination.
An incredible burst of colour in Queen's Park,
I am glad we stumbled onto the event.

Later in the afternoon,
a walk through Chinatown,
and Kensington Market to our favorite,
iDeal Coffee.

Returning home to an Easter dinner by B+G...
What a feast!

the abundance experienced today - in diversity, experiences and food.
...and for the colour starting to peek through our fuzzy buds...

A glorious spring day.
The buds are beautiful against the brilliant blue sky.

A Good Friday...
Morning workout,
lunch and a walk in the neighbourhood,
and advanced poll voting.

Dinner is fajitas from leftover steak and fresh italian sausage with fennel,
fresh salsa + guack...
followed by an after dinner game of
dominoes...
a different style from
the domiNO game I have played before...

Grateful today for
walking about hand in hand with my mate,
fun friends and games,
and domiNO, an inspiration for saBEE.

A fun session taking photos of pump, pipes and fittings today.

The drive out to the shop
takes me on roads to views never seen before.

The evening brings spontaneous and fun gatherings.

The house is warm

Remembering Tom...
As a teen, I had 3 big brothers.
Tom was one of the 3.

He was an inspiration to me to work hard,
and to be smart.
He was also a bridge for me...
Bridging High school to University,
Canadian culture to Korean culture,
all part of who I am today.

Today I am grateful for all that Tom inspired,
and the love and care that he always gave me.

Rest in peace, 오빠.
